On 19 Oct 2017, we opened the latest exhibition at the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) here in Karlsruhe, Open Codes: Living in Digital Worlds. I have two projects on the theme of algorithmic music exploration in the exhibition: MusiCode & LindenmayerExplorer.
Today we live in a globalized world, controlled and created by digital codes. From communication to transportation (of people, goods, and messages), everything is guided by codes that use electromagnetic waves and computers. With the »Open Codes. Living in Digital Worlds« exhibition, the ZKM | Karlsruhe is once again addressing the subject of digitalization and the recording of the world through the binary code.
Open Codes runs from now until August 8 2018: open-codes.zkm.de
For the exhibition, I built two projects on the theme of algorithmic exploration:
- MusiCode: live coding of musical sequences using common computer music algorithms
- LindenmayerExplorer: an editable introduction to the Lindenmayer System algorithm
